I’m really glad that pronunciation is getting special attention again. (My field is linguistics and I taught college level language (German) for 20 years. I now teach with online games.
It seems to me that with the new technologies available on the Internet, pronunciation practice is not only more fun, but also more effective. I’ve been learning Spanish now for 2 months (and speak 5 other languages). This is the first time I can click on a word, phrase, or sentence and can hear how it’s pronounced, the music of it, immediately. The sound and the spelling of the language become fixed together in my mind. It’s absolutely great. I’ve started reading the Spanish newspaper and a book and am surprised how much I already understand.
[When I learned Italian 6 years ago, I learned with with audio (no text) and grammar from a textbook before I went to Italy for 5 months. It took me a while to be able to read and write Italian even though I could speak pretty well.] Looking forward to getting information from your conference!!
