The ‘r-survey’, question 4 (contd.)

Part e of this question asked respondents to list the diagnoses of their clients with /r/ problems. Naturally, many respondents listed several different diagnoses, so the analysis presented here will total more than 200, as each diagnosis is totalled separately. Some respondents simply put ‘various’ and this is counted as a separate category.

The bar chart below shows the totals for the categories of speech/articulation, phonology, developmental/delay, motor speech or CAS, various, and other (mostly language disorders). There is also a don’t know/zero response category.

The delay/developmental category needs further examination. Some respondents listed this is a separate term (4 instances), others combined it with speech/articulation (21 respondents) or with phonology (12) respondents, or with some other category (4 examples). The pie chart below shows this division:
